The Designhub Royale Vintage Round Shades are the prestige tier of the Designhub collection, featuring a round frame base metal plated with a genuine 24-carat gold leaf finish — not electroplate, but actual gold leaf applied by hand using the traditional gilding technique — delivering a depth of gold color and surface warmth that electroplated frames cannot achieve, alongside the inevitable microscopic surface variation that is the hallmark of genuine hand-applied gold leaf. The frame is a 50mm diameter round zinc alloy casting with a solid round bridge, plated first in a yellow gold electroplate base coat and then finished by hand with 24-carat gold leaf fragments applied using gelatin size and sealed with a clear spirit varnish that protects the gold surface against abrasion while preserving the leaf texture. The lenses are 50mm round polycarbonate in a deep cognac amber tint — a rich, warm brown that complements the gold frame and provides category 2 UV400 sun protection. Barrel hinges.
